The other really heartbreaking moment for me (other than. ya know) was when at the very end of the film, sam rockwells character saves jojo from being punished by the american soldiers and more or less sacrifices himself for jojo it was just heartbreaking for this father figure (that jojo didnt even realize he was for him) save him, and knowing as the audience that jojo doesnt understand the legitimate sacrifice he made for him, and likely wont until he is older we can see the imaginary friend version of hitler as a father figure, but the real one is captain k, and jojo doesnt even know it this ultimately makes it such that jojo is forced to come to the understanding that hitler a) doesnt actually care about him or his wellbeing, and b) was never really in his life to begin with, and he was so caught up with his childish ambitions that he couldnt focus on what was really in front of him ok i need to stop im getting emo about this basically the moral of the story is sam rockwell is an amazing actor and i love is all.
